Porsche Boxster 986 3.2 S

Pristine example, full history, amazing specification

Initially shown as a concept car in 1993, the Boxster is widely regarded as the car that SAVED Porsche financially at the end of the 1990's when the company fortunes were at a low ebb.

Porsche launched '986' series Boxster in 1996 and it immediately received a raft of design awards and high praise from the automotive community at large. 

More importantly for Porsche enthusiasts it was the first single-mindedly designed and realised 2 seater Porsche since the 550 spyder of the 1960's( if you ignore the ill-fated and unloved 914) and a car which created a whole sector of high performance uber-premium 2 seater sports cars BUT at an accessible price.

It was the most popular and highest volume Porsche from launch in 1996 right through to 2003 and has only been surpassed by the Cayenne SUV model in the Porsche range.

A perfectly crafted Porsche which was true to the original Porsche philosophy of high power to weight ratio, instantly recognisable Porsche design DNA and pin sharp dynamics, early 986 series cars have become increasingly sought after as they fully embodied Ferry Porsches view of the ultimate sports car, light, accessible on price and impeccably well engineered. 

Later generations of this model have gained power, but have also gained significant weight and scale which have taken the car further away from the more purist Porsche principles - according the Porschephiles!

Initially launched with a 2.5 litre flat 6 cylinder engine the range was extended in 2000 with a 3.2 litre flat six which provided a much needed power upgrade. Performance became sector defining with 0-62 in just 5.7 seconds with just a modest 265bhp.

This particluar car is one of the very last 986 series cars sold in RHD markets and is the very rare and desirable 3.2 litre 'S' models finished in Midnight blue with a host of factory options and in unmodified condition.

A credit to former owner the car has complete provenance and is a super-useable modern classic which will no doubt appreciate in the future.
